About Department of Kannada
- The Department of Kannada was established in 1957 with the student strength of 121.
- Kannada was introduced as the Modern Indian Language in 1957.
- Semester system was introduced in 2005.

Vision
- “To train, provide advanced skills and to motivate students towards research in the field of Language and Literature for Betterment of Society at large”.
Objectives
- To support the usage of ‘Mother tongue’ and flourish it to speak.
- To improve Basic Language Skills.(Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
- To create Kannada environment.
- To make the students competent in the use of Kannada Language through presentations in the seminars, participation in Group Discussions and projects, so as to enable them to compete in all the spheres of life.
