About Department of Kannada

• The Department of Kannada was established in 1957 with the student strength of 121.
• Kannada was introduced as the Modern Indian  Language in 1957.
• Semester system was introduced in 2005.

• “To train, provide advanced skills and to motivate students towards research in the field of Language and Literature for Betterment of Society at large”.

Objectives 

• To support the usage of ‘Mother tongue’ and flourish it to  speak.
• To improve Basic Language Skills.(Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
• To create Kannada environment.
